SDSVP Crisis Relief Supplies Drive


Volunteer San Diego’s Disaster Response Team Mobilizes the Community

WHAT: Volunteer San Diego, the premier agency of volunteer programs and services in San Diego County, is partnering with Social Venture Partners, Hope Force International, and Amylin Pharmeceuticals to organize a community-wide Volunteer Reception Center and collection drive.
Today, Friday, October 26th, community members will be able to register with Volunteer San Diego onsite and donate supplies to wildfire victims. This collection drive will focus on crisis relief supplies, such as 8-66 qt. plastic bins, sunscreen, shovels, working gloves, infant care items, etc. ONLY NEW OR UNUSED ITEMS ACCEPTED.


WHO: Hundreds of volunteers and community members
WHEN: Friday, October 26th, 2007 7:30 am-7:30 pm
WHERE: The drive will be held near UTC at Amylin Pharmaceutical at 9625 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA 92121.

MORE INFO: Volunteer San Diego is designated by the County Office of Emergency Services as the lead agency for Spontaneous Unaffiliated Volunteer Management as part of the County’s Disaster Response Plan. Recognized nationwide for its disaster program, Volunteer San Diego mobilizes both individual and group volunteers who want to help but don’t have disaster training or experience and connects these people with community and government organizations that need help.

Those interested in volunteering are urged to register on the website, http://www.volunteersandiego.org/. As volunteer opportunities become available, they will be posted.
