My Civil Forum Day in Numbers

Today was the Civil Forum on the Presidency at Saddleback. McCain and Obama each had 1 hour to chat (no debate) with Rick Warren on stage, it was such a historic event and I'm so happy I was able to go! I also volunteered; I was the manager of the Oakley area (parking, volunteer check in, will call). It was a crazy and extremely chaotic day -- but totally worth it! I work well under chaos, I thrive in the midst of it. Here is my day in numbers:

8AM call time @ Oakley
57 min. of tail gaiting will call
300 will call VIP tickets
1 ice cold coke
1 hand shake with Michael W. Smith
2 missed calls from M.W.S.
1 invite to the Obama Elite party in Denver
3 blisters
4 phone calls to Gene
4 Starbucks
5 times I was disappointed with McCain's interview
6 people I pissed off
8 phone conversations with Senators
17 voicemail's between 4:00 - 7:00PM
62 incoming phone calls
0 pictures taken

For contrast, how many times were you disappointed with Obama's interview?

Ange,

Couldn't agree with you more. Read my new blog. Thanks for all the help you gave to help make this happen. Too often the volunteers are left out or don't get enough credit. Too bad they wouldn't let us take pictures too!

Rob - I was disappointed with Obama a few times regarding his answers to abortion, orphan care, and evil; but McCain's canned and undoubtedly rehearsed answers disappointed me way more.

I was actually disappointed in Obama's skirting of his positions. I wish he would have been more direct. I was happy for that kind of a debate setting though--wasn't it nice not to have all the irritating banter/arguing/posturing?

i felt that McCain was honest and more direct. Obama thrives on extemporaneous situations. McCain on the other hand can get into big trouble when he attempts to be spontaneous. That's just his style. He is the Straight-Talk Express and Saturday night was the first time I've seen it in a long time.

I think the forum provided the voters with amazing contrasts between the two.

the fact that you got to shake hands with Michael W. Smith makes my eyes turn greener with envy. I was so pissed when I found out I missed him on Sunday morning because I was ministering to stupid middle schoolers.
