Ethnic Fest(ivities)

We had a booth at the Tacoma Ethnic Fest this weekend. It wasn't the "normal" Experience we have at churches and schools -- we modified and made it into a "mini-plus" version with a video and a tricked up corral area. It was interactive...lots of "Try This" elements and allowed families to hang out and learn about what life is like for families in developing countries in Africa.

...visitors could watch a short 5 min video about a girl living in Uganda...

...they could build Caregiver kits...

...they could draw their own village and incorporate the 5 ways World Vision develops communities......they could look at dirty vs. clean water and try and carry a jerry can full of water around, and then balance a basket on their heads...

...and of course, they could plant seeds and see the eventual progression of growing crops (hence me being a farmer the past week)......after they plant seeds they could grind corn...
...and no event is complete without fun pictures with my co-workers :)

It was a great weekend, super super hot -- but really fun. Our next fair stop is the Puyallup fair in Sept -- good times!

Ethnic Fest looks like so much fun! Too bad we didn't have you here for the Orange County Fair!
