Date to Outdate

I read today that email is outdating itself. Weird! When I think of things that are outdated I think of cassettes, memos, washing boards, and the newspaper. I wonder if things NOW will outdate themselves quicker... I wonder if things like the light bulb, mattresses, or even washing machines will outdate themselves one day...
