My Inauguration Post

I walked into the large conference room at WV today just as the violinist and cellist were playing, so I missed Rick's prayer. I was blown away by our new President though; powerful, direct and inspiring. I truly believe this is what our nation has been lacking for so long...

I just watched the Rick prayer and many things came across my mind: awe, inspiration, overwhelmed and disbelief that I actually used to work for him and that he's MY pastor. I am amazed at how God is using him despite the critics and hatred towards him by unbelievers, and even Christians who don't agree with him (don't they realize that we're all on the same team???) However, I am thankful that a man can be so bold to go against all of them for the sake of Jesus. I am thankful that he doesn't back down or sell out or conform his message or even compromise who he is to please people. I love that about Rick! I doubt most people would stand up like he does, or put himself out there knowing he's going to be ridiculed, I really admire him for that!

Just because a Christian doesn't AGREE with Rick and his beliefs doesn't mean they hate him. Some Christians don't agree with him because over the years he has moved away from focusing on the gospel of Jesus Christ and is promoting a more "marketed", personal vision of the Bible that he is "selling" to other pastors and churches.

Anonymous -- I know many Christians who actually hate Rick... I disagree, he isn't moving away from the Gospel, just developing new ways of reaching people who have rejected the gospel in the past.

But we can't manipulate or motivate people to receive Christ, the Holy Spirit has to do it. Rick's vision is very emotions based and program/formula based and not based on trusting the Holy Spirit. In an interview, he said that Pastors should not pray for their churches, that will get them nowhere, they must use the PDC material to build their churches.

I think Rick sometimes creates division in the church at large with his views. I don't think Christians should respond with hatred to him but people don't understand him and this can sometimes make people respond harshly or critically. He is seen as a very powerful and influential Pastor in the Christian community and I think Christians are afraid to speak against what he teaches so this produces frustration and anger. I'm not saying it's right....just my perspective.

I think we all need to ask the Lord for discernment whenever we are listening to someone who so controversial and hold up what they are teaching to the Word of God.
